Rebecca's History:
Nobody, including Rebecca herself, seems to know where she was born.
She was found as a young child, equal to about three years old, in a back
alley in a little known planet in a border system know as Nelerial Prime.
All she has is a some group home memories before that. The system is situated
between the Consortium of Civilized Worlds and the Trans-Galactic Empire.
It is useful as a trading point and is fairly poor in resources, so neither
the C.A.F. or the T.G.E. seem to have any designs on acquiring the system.
The system is a hotbed for both military espionage and smuggling. She was
adopted by a human freighter captain that went by the name Rubin Paxton.
Many would not have called him a merchant but instead call him a smuggler.
He was running a hot load through the system and acquired the fox girl
as a daughter. A nurses aid working at the home knew him and knew that
he had lost his wife and child to the Kreeghor about a year before and
saw it as good opportunity to save both the man from himself and the girl
from the life the world would give her. This is most likely for the best
because otherwise she would have been put in an orphanage and the government
of the planet is know to not be of the best quality. As she grew older,
he discovered that she was a natural with piloting ships. He tried to be
a good father to her and taught her from library files that he purchased.
He kept her from most of the business aspect of his job although he had
changed from smuggling elicit materials to weapons into the Free Worlds
Council. Unfortunately he ran into some bad luck and was caught in Consortium
with a load of illegal weapons that he was carrying to the Free Worlds
Council. He was arrested and was given a stiff jail sentence along with
having his ship seized by the government. He took the full blame on himself
so that she would end up not serving any prison time but that still left
her without a job. She founds jobs on several other starships but either
they were to mundane a jobs or she found herself with a smuggler that she
felt she could not trust. Measured up against the standards set by her
father no other captains could measure up. Eventually, she found herself
in the Free Worlds Council military and from there she drifted into becoming
a test pilot. After several years, she decided to strike on her own as
a fighter pilot and was allowed to keep her fighter. Her father has since
been freed and while he still smuggles to the F.W.C., he is now doing it
for Consortium Intelligence so he is protected. She will join and help
him on dangerous jobs.
Notes:
In reality, Rebecca was a Coalition experiment using a fox instead
of dog. The Experiment was performed at Lone Star and they wanted a creature
that was more independent than a dog boy but less independent than cats.
The problem is that the experiment failed. The mutant foxes were even more
independent than the mutant cats. Rebecca was among the second batch and
was ordered to be destroyed when some incidents with the first batch were
reported. One of the lab technicians was unwilling to see the fox children
killed, so she smuggled them out at the cost of her own life. How Rebecca
got transferred to the alley is due to a random rift interfering with the
escape. She has blocked out most memories of what happened when she was
saved from Lone Star due to the trauma involved
